BREWERY

Stiegl’s top priority is the use of local raw materials and a respectful use of natural resources. However, in everything they do, making customers, suppliers and employees feel appreciated is of paramount importance.

It goes without saying that it is the distinctive flavour and the prime quality that sets Stiegl apart from other beers.

To brew high-quality beer, a wealth of experience in brewing and a natural feel for dealing with the raw materials is essential. That’s why we call it the art of brewing!

Stiegl takes care of soil health

"Beer brewing begins for us in the soil"

Salzburg (OTS) - "Beer brewing begins for us in the soil", Stiegl owner Heinrich Dieter Kiener is convinced and is intensively concerned about soil health: "I am vehemently opposed to the use of glyphosate, because what you bring to the earth, you get also back."

As the only brewery in Austria, Stiegl has been operating its own organic agriculture for over 20 years. Mixed fruit growing, a multi-year crop rotation and biodiversity are on the agenda. Among other things, the private brewery allows arable herbs to grow in their fields and thus creates an important habitat for insects such as the endangered dark bee. Pesticides are taboo. Gut Wildshut is a great idea for beer. There, Stiegl owner Kiener lets cultivated and forgotten pastries become oblivious, which is unique in Austria. Furthermore, in Wildshut, the focus has been laid on the ground for many years. Among other things, a research project is underway to improve soil health and to bind more CO2 in the soil.
